GLBA has broken ground for the Student Life Center!
Student Life Center Ground Breaking Ceremony
We are thrilled to share that Gospel Light Baptist Academy has officially broken ground on our brand new Student Life Center!
To say we’re excited would be an understatement. This project is so much more than a building to us—it’s a step of faith, a vision coming to life, and a testimony of God’s goodness.
We were honored to have special guest speakers join us for this meaningful occasion as we came together to praise the Lord and pray over the future of this new space.
The Student Life Center will include a gym, classrooms, offices, and more—allowing us to grow and expand in ways we’ve been praying for. We are incredibly excited about the opportunities this facility will create to further invest in our students.
We would be grateful for your continued prayers, that God’s hand of blessing, provision, and guidance will be upon every step of this journey.
UPDATES:
June 2022 - Gospel Light purchased with cash 1.6 acres adjoining our current property giving us the land we need for the Student Life Center.
July 2022 - Leadership of Gospel Light Baptist Church and Gospel Light Baptist Academy created a plan to raise $600,000 in building funds BEFORE breaking ground on the Student Life Center and put into action that plan with the goal of having those funds by spring 2024.
November 2022 - GLBA raised over $53,000 for the cost of the architectural plans for the Student Life Center that are now almost fully completed.
August 2023 - GLBC completely paid off the mortgage on our current facilties meaning our ministry is debt-free and able to focus more singularly on the rasing of funds for the Student Life Center.
November 2023 - Current building fund stands at $460,000 raised. GLBA launched the 2023 Fall Fundraiser with the goal of raising $65,000 towards the building fund.
January 2024 - GLBA’s Fall Fundraiser was a HUGE success! Not only did we reach our goal of raising $65,000, but far surpassed it by raising over $85,000!
September 2024 - Gospel Light has completed the sale of our property at Southern and Lisbon taking our total funds raised over 1 million dollars!
March 2025- Our plans have been submitted to the city and are currently under approval review. This is an exciting last step before we start moving dirt on the property.
June 2025- Steel frame delivered. The steel frame for our building project has officially arrived on site. This marks the beginning of the vertical build – the structure is about to take shape.
March 2026- We are approved to build! Our building plans have been approved by the city of Rio Rancho. GLBA broke ground for the amazing project on March 29th.
April 2026- Work has begun! The dirt work has started, in preperation of pouring the foundation.
The Student Life Center project is a 20,000+ sq ft facility that includes:
Spacious, new classrooms that will double the current classroom capacity of GLBA
Commercial kitchen
Athletic court and locker rooms
Dedicated school entrance with lobby
Expanded parking
Between our Christian school and the kids ministries of Gospel Light Baptist Church, this facility will serve hundreds of students every single week. The land needed for this building has already been purchased through the acquisition an adjoining 1.6 acres east of our current property. We now need to raise the funds for this building. We need your help!
